The X1 Card has several attributes that place it at the top of the class. For starters, it is one of the few credit cards that does not rely solely on your credit score to determine credit worthiness or the credit limit to be granted. Instead, it uses your current and potential future income to make a determination, which the company claims can result in a limit up to five times higher than a traditional credit card.
Positive Points | Negative Points |
---|---|
Earn 2 points per dollar on every purchase | No APR offer |
Earn 3 points per dollar every time you spend $1,000 in a month | No welcome bonus |
Because X1 bases its underwriting on your income rather than your credit score, it may be attractive to those working on building or repairing their credit.
When it comes to rewards, the X1 Card's structure is one of the most generous we've seen on a no-annuity card. The card earns 2 points per dollar spent on purchases, spend $1,000 in qualifying purchases in a month to earn 3 points per dollar on the next $6,500 in qualifying purchases during that month (then earn 2 points per dollar on the remaining monthly purchases).

Redeeming rewards
Rewards are worth 1 cent per point at select merchants and can also be redeemed for instant cash back, according to X1 Card co-founder and CEO Deepak Rao. Rewards can be redeemed by making purchases at any X1 partner list and receiving a statement credit for that purchase. You can also redeem your rewards for cash back as a statement credit, but the value is less than a penny per point.
